Wrestling Insider Magazine (WIN) has come out with their preseason rankings with Penn State and five PSU wrestlers making an appearance.
PSU show up at #13 in WIN’s Preseason Division I Tournament Power Index. Iowa and Iowa State hold down the top two spot with Cornell a distant third.
Among Big Ten schools, the Lion’s hold down the fourth spot squeezed between #12 Wisconsin and #14 Indiana. #4 Ohio State and #5 Minnesota also hold spots ahead of the Nittany Lions.
Among the individual rankings, five PSU wrestlers hold down top ten rankings with Cyler Sanderson and Bubba Jenkins both holding down the highest rankings at #6. Frank Molinaro checks in with a #8 ranking while both Dan Vallimont and Brad Pataky check in with #9 rankings.
Quenten Wright is expected to redshirt and is thus not ranked.

Nittany lion open tournament
Ive see bits & pieces about it. Is this an up & coming event in your eyes?
Typically, are there many division 1 schools that participate & your best guess; is there going to be;(a little; some;quite a bit; or alot) of top talent coming this year? where do we find out who is invited to the nittany lion open this year?
Is the caliber of competition for this tournament positive for Penn state?
Has it grown much & do u see it as a season opening meaningful tournament in the future? and
Do u know if it will be telecast this year or a video made?

It was an ok tournament. I would never say that it was anything special.
With the NCAA rules limiting the number of days of competition that schools can have, tournaments have a real appeal because you will get in a lot of matches that only count as one day.
Typically a PSU wrestler will win about half of the titles so the competition really isn’t anything spectacular.
Your guess is as good as mine as to how Cael might want to use the tournament in the future.
The tournament isn’t likely to be televised but an audio broadcast will probably be available on the internet through goPSUSports All-Access pass.

Because he screwed up his classes and is academically ineligible for Fall semester. He can wrestle at the end of the Fall semester if his grades are good enough (he may wind up redshirting for the whole year though).
