UNIVERSITY PARK — The first four bouts of Penn State's home opener against Bloomsburg included 22 takedowns, an alarming total by college wrestling standards.
Once the action went from frantic to calculated, the Nittany Lions found a way to hand coach Cael Sanderson his first Penn State victory.
Cyler Sanderson and Clay Steadman earned decisions in one-takedown bouts at 157 and 197 to propel Penn State to a 23-15 victory before 4,063 fans Sunday at Rec Hall.
