UNIVERSITY PARK — Sometimes life as the nation’s top wrestling recruit features solitary moments.
Penn State freshman David Taylor experienced a few during Thanksgiving Week. Instead of returning to his St. Paris, Ohio, home, Taylor stayed on campus, where he slept in his dorm room alone and prepared for last weekend’s Mat-Town Open in Lock Haven.
Only one person required the four-time Ohio state champion to wrestle during the holiday: Taylor.
“I kind of told my dad when I first got here, especially early when I was struggling, that I might as well spend as much time with the varsity guys and coaches as possible and really make the most of this year because I want to be a national champion next year,” Taylor said.
