Something seems amiss about the scenario.
One of college wrestling’s biggest names coaches Penn State. The National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals might be the sport’s second largest showcase.
So why are the Nittany Lions wrestling Virginia Tech at 9 a.m. today in Hampton, Va., instead of flying to Cedar Falls, Iowa?
“You only get invited to the national duals if you are ranked so high and we weren’t invited this year,” said coach Cael Sanderson, who inherited a team that placed 17th at last year’s NCAA Championships. “We hope to be there in the future.”
