No. 14 Penn State turned what looked to be two tossup matches into relatively easy wins on the first day of the Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.
The Nittany Lions overcame an early 9-6 deficit to Virginia Tech by winning six of the final seven bouts, including the final five, to cruise past the Hokies 26-9 in the opening round.
Then, in the quarterfinals, Adam Lynch’s fall at 141 pounds helped propel the fourth-seeded Nittany Lions to a 22-13 win over 13th-ranked and fifth-seeded Kent State.
