HAMPTON, Va. — The explosive style of the Sooner State’s two best programs caused major problems for the Penn State wrestling team.
The Nittany Lions struggled on their feet as they fell to Oklahoma State 24-13 in the semifinals and Oklahoma 22-15 in the third-place match of the Virginia Duals on Saturday. Penn State allowed 36 takedowns and compiled 17 in the two duals.
The Nittany Lions (8-3-1) bid to the make the finals never generated momentum as they dropped the first three bouts against the fourth-ranked Cowboys, who defeated Lehigh 30-6 in the finals. Oklahoma State recorded bonus points in two of those bouts as Jordan Oliver majored Bryan Pearsall 14-4 at 133 and Jamal Parks pinned Adam Lynch in 3:55 at 141
