The Nittany Lion wrestling team took fourth place at the Virginia Duals Saturday, wrestling to its seed with a 2-2 record at the team event.
Cael Sanderson’;s No. 14 Lions beat Virginia Tech and No. 13 Kent State Friday to advance to the semifinals of the bracketed team tournament, where they faced top-seeded and No. 4 Oklahoma State in Saturday’s morning session.
The Cowboys were too deep for Penn State. They had a lineup with nine ranked wrestlers to the Lions’ six. Despite Frank Molinaro, Cyler Sanderson, Dan Vallimont and David Erwin claiming victories, the Cowboys advanced to the final by a 24-13 margin that included six bonus points.
