Altons get through to AAA finals

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — The field for the finals is set at the PIAA wrestling championships.

Central Dauphin’s Marshall Peppelman and Central Mountain’s Dylan Alton need one more win for their third career titles. Peppelman won by forfeit to get to the Class AAA finals tonight.

Alton faced his toughest match yet in beating Northampton’s Austin Sommer at 152 pounds, yet still wasn’t seriously challenged in a 10-6 decision.

Alton’s equally formidable twin brother, Andrew, advanced to the final at 145 after pinning Middletown’s Bo Candelaria in 3:34.

The Class AA finals begin this afternoon, when the spotlight will fall on Dirk Cowburn’s quest for a third gold. The Coudersport senior has an anticipated bout against another returning champ in Benton’s Eric Hess at 160.
