Bubbler uses escape in final seconds to secure win in 130-pound finals.

HERSHEY — Boiling Springs senior Joe Spisak proved that nice guys don’t always finish last.

Spisak reversed three years of misfortune in a single moment when he escaped the grasp of Shady Side Academy senior Frank Martellotti, the 2007 PIAA Class AA 103-pound champion, with five seconds left in the third period of the PIAA Class AA 130-pound championship bout at Giant Center on Saturday.

“It was a fairy-tale ending,” said Spisak, a University of Virginia recruit. “So much sacrifice, hard work and dedication showed in that one moment. I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”
