Collegian: Davis wins UFC fight

Phil Davis’ weight had always been high leading into bouts — whether as a wrestler at Penn State or in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Davis’ friend and former Penn State teammate Aaron Anspach said the 205-pound light-heavyweight caused concern among the UFC camp when he was 15 pounds overweight only four days before Saturday’s competition. But just like he always did, Davis cut the weight and defeated Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson by first-round submission Saturday in UFC 11

Harrisburg’s Phil Davis makes it 2-0 in the UFC
Pennsylvania native Phil “Mr. Wonderful”; Davis increased his record to 2-0 in the UFC and 6-0 overall, stopping fellow then unbeaten prospect Alexander Gustafsson in the first round.
Davis' wrestling proved to be the difference once again as the former Penn State wrestler controlled the fight completely.
The end came at 4.55 of the first round as Davis applied a fight ending Anaconda choke.

UFC 112: Success for former college wrestlers Edgar, Hughes, Munoz, Davis
Four of the five former NCAA college wrestlers competing at UFC 112: Invincible were indeed invincible in their bouts Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Phil Davis, who won the 197-pound title for Penn State at the 2008 NCAA championships, got Alexander Gustafsson to submit via an Anaconda Choke at 4:55 in Round 1.
