STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -The Sanderson boys stuck together from Iowa State to Penn State.
Now they’re making one more trip to the NCAA tournament together nearly a year after a whirlwind courtship lured Cael Sanderson from his alma mater to coach the Nittany Lions.
Cody, the oldest of the Sanderson brothers at 33, is Cael’s top assistant. Cyler, a 23-year-old senior, is one of the nation’s best wrestlers at 157 pounds.

Sanderson drops former teammate for PSU’s lone title
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Penn State’s Cyler Sanderson and Purdue’s Colton Salazar started training together as five-year-olds in Wasatch, Utah, far away from the glare of major events such as the Big Ten Championships.
Both wrestlers had big dreams. But facing each other in a Big Ten final? No way, they thought.
On Sunday, the once-unthinkable happened, as Sanderson and Salazar wrestled for a 157-pound title in Crisler Arena, 1,600 miles from their Utah homes.

Seven other teams in the Top 25, four opposing wrestlers ranked No. 1 in the nation and their coach making his conference tournament debut.
That's the atmosphere the Penn State wrestlers will face Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Big Ten championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
It’s unlikely the Penn State wrestling team will come away with 10 individual titles, but former Nittany Lion coach Rich Lorenzo, who guided the team from 1979-92, believes the current coaching staff, led by Cael Sanderson, has the wrestlers ready.
CDT: Seven seeds to pace Lions at Big Tens
Guy Cipriano – gciprian@centredaily.com
Cael Sanderson never whiffed in earning NCAA qualifiers during his three years as Iowa State’s head coach.
Maintaining the perfect percentage during his season at Penn State will be tougher despite some gaudy seedings.
The Big Ten released preseeds for this weekend’s tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich., and seven Nittany Lions earned top four seeds in their respective weight classes. The pre-seeds were determined by a vote of conference coaches based on regular-season results.
Final brackets will be released Friday. Wrestling begins Saturday and concludes Sunday at Crisler Arena.
